Andrew is holding strong. In the past two days he has made slow but steady progress. The doctors are working on a his lungs, white blood cell count, and septic infection. Andrew's lungs collapsed the other night because of the amount of fluid in them. They are working to build them back up. His white blood cell count is very low. A normal cell count is in the ten thousand range and Andrew is below one thousand. Andrew is still in an induced coma because the doctors do not want Andrew's organs to be stressed. Each day they take a blood culture and are looking for a negative result (thats a good thing). Once he has a negative result for 5 days then Andrew can come out of a coma. As soon as his lungs, white cells and his neurological tests are normal then the only thing left to do is some physical therapy for his atrophy.
The countless prayers made in Andrew's behalf is the reason why he is doing so well. The Gardner's can't thank you enough for your love and support. A loving family, good friends and ward family are giving Brandon and Stacie the strength to endure this trial. The Lord is with them and He is walking beside them every step of the way. They are so fortunate to have such amazing and brilliant doctors and nurses to administer to Andrew. They know exactly what to do for him. Andrew is so lucky to live at a time when modern medicine is so advanced. What a blessing!
Continue to pray for Andrew and his parents. Also, pray for the doctors and nurses that their hands and minds will know exactly what to do for him.
We love you Andrew!
